Founder & Therapist at JNG Therapy

I am a therapist and the founder of JNG Therapy, a therapy practice supporting individuals feel more at ease with themselves and lead more authentic lives. I am a board certified and Columbia University trained psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of anxiety, self-esteem, relationships and trauma.

To date, I have found the most meaningful and fulfilling work in my private practice. My genuine curiosity for people and their life story is what drew me to this field. We all have a story and sometimes what we need most is a safe place to share. I am passionate about the power of therapy as a tool for finding meaningful ways to improve your life.

Prior to establishing my practice, I had the privilege of working in a variety of clinical settings some of which included hospitals and schools where I supported individuals across the lifespan. Most recently, I worked on The Mount Sinai Hospital’s neurology service. My role was critical in supporting individuals with traumatic brain injuries, neurological conditions, and brain tumors, including those with terminal diagnoses, helping them and their families cope with the crisis, ever-changing news, and profound grief that accompanied their admission.

Philosophy & Approach To Therapy

Philosophy

My philosophy on therapy is simple: knowledge is power. I believe that the symptoms we see and experience on the surface are a manifestation of deeper root causes. By becoming curious and uncovering the ‘why’ behind persistent thoughts, feelings, behaviors and patterns we can trace the symptom to the root cause and effectively address these concerns rather than merely applying temporary fixes. This is where true transformation lies. You deserve to understand ‘why’ you feel the way you do and implement change rather than learning to tolerate a less than satisfactory state of mind and quality of life.

Together we will explore these longstanding patterns while finding quick solutions to the symptoms that are causing day to day distress. Each of us develop coping styles and strategies along the way to support us through life’s intricacies. While these coping styles may have once served us well, our growth as individuals often requires us to reassess, refine and question whether these strategies are still supporting us.

Approach

My approach to therapy is compassionate, conversational and encouraging. Each individual is unique, so my approach is tailored to best meet your personal needs to ensure the most successful outcome in therapy. I lean on the therapeutic alliance that we build overtime and ask critical questions that encourage you to have deeper reflection and a greater sense of self.

I value evidence-based research and utilize well-established theories to enhance the effectiveness and integrity of our therapeutic work. Each of these modalities offers us the opportunity to learn more about you through different frameworks and perspectives, while grounding our work in the most relevant and recommended practices.

Every individual is the expert of their own story. My mission and goal is for clients to feel their best while empowering them with insights, information, and tools to effect authentic and lasting change in their lives.
